IT'S EXPECTED THAT AN ALCOHOLIC will not emerge from a thorough experience with the Twelve Steps as a saint; but some become so satisfied with themselves that they are something of a pain to those about them. You've all seen these birds. They're loaded with personality traits that look good on the surface, but underneath they are the same old fraud they were before they cut their AA bicuspids. They brag of their honesty. Sure, they tell the truth. . .but with every intention of deceiving. They'll say, "I saw Tom today and he was sober" as if Tom had been drunk for a week, when actually Tom has been sober for two years.
