Surrender

I DIDN'T BECOME WILLING to understand the word surrender with any kind of conscience until I'd been in AA about three months. As with a lot of others I have since met, it had been a stumbling word for some thirty years of "living my own life." Cowards surrendered; strong men like me didn't give an inch. Let's have another drink.
