LAST NEW YEAR'S DAY, at my grandmother-in-law's house, I was offered a glass of wine. As I've been doing lately, I politely refused it. My aunt-in-law got a little enthusiastic and said, "Oh-oh, Ralph's on the wagon again! Maybe one day you'll get enough will-power to take one and leave it alone." I mumbled something like, "Maybe, we'll see."
