AA Around the World
FROM FINLAND TO GSH. . . In AA I am called Bobby. I got contact to AA on the 30th of August 1954 and since that day I have been sober. I ought to say it is a wonder, but as I found my own understanding of God through AA, I don't think it is a wonder, because in my opinion all is possible to Him. But what I wonder is why He gave this great chance to me, the guy who all my life have denied His existence. As I came to AA I was so perfectly licked by booze, that I was ready to accept anything they told me. There in the group was a fellow who knew English and he gave me the Big Book. When I started to read it I couldn't let it off my hands until I fell asleep, and it was a good sleep--since a long, long time. You see, in spite of the fact, that it was written fifteen years before I got it in my hands, it was written about me. And those fellows in the book promised that I can get what they had. I only had to try sincerely to follow their path and that I have tried. Well, there has been difficulties, but that is only natural for I am an alcoholic. Today my opinion is that only through humility can I practice the principles of our program in my affairs, and consequently my daily happiness depends on the amount of humility I am able to apply to my daily doings. Of course the days have varied very much, but what else could they be?
