PUSHING A YEAR

I'M PUSHING A YEAR OF SOBRIETY--a few more twenty-four hours of total abstinence and I'll have it. Considering I'm only twenty-five years old and the past few months have been the longest I've stayed sober in ten years, I'm pretty grateful. I was court-martialed in the Navy and did some hard labor--was arrested many times for drunk and disorderly--traveled the drunk driving route twice in my first year out of the service (which carried a jail sentence in this state, plus the loss of money)--drank my way out of the University of Washington in my freshman year--and was about to lose a wife (a wonderful one at that)--when I came to AA.
