Ask the Man Who Is One
THE ALCOHOLIC DOES NOT WANT to know the truth about himself; and, he doesn't want you to tell him either. He'd rather say, "All right, so I drink too much; I'm a drunk, so let's forget it." He doesn't want to go any further with the matter. To admit that he drinks too much is his justification for drinking too much. To admit that he is a drunk is his justification for getting drunk. What do you expect a drunk to do other than get drunk?
