A Good Look--Backward

THE DATE OF MY DEATH could well have been Saturday, February 11, 1950. . .the cause--chronic alcoholism and protracted drunkenness. But a Power greater than myself saw fit to rescue me from a cheap hotel and a drunk that had progressed downward from whiskey to cheap wine and finally to eight-cent pints of rubbing alcohol.
