From the Grass Roots

PROFANITY ISN'T BECOMING

I HAVE JUST RETURNED HOME from an AA meeting and feel rather--shall I say, hurt and somewhat taken aback--at the adjectives, jokes, and illustrations used by some of the speakers to make a point. Profanity and smutty stories, to my way of thinking, are not only in bad taste but also entirely unnecessary in a decent program such as ours with an exceedingly strong spiritual backbone. Oh, I have my own stock of corny shady stories, but I feel in my heart that there is a time and place for them and it certainly isn't at my AA meeting.
