IT SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE because the obvious ingredients were lacking, but I had heard about it and I knew what it was. . . . a dry hangover. And in the first hour of the day it had all the earmarks of old times. Even to tremors that might break any moment into the real shakes. And anxiety stood at my elbow.
