"WHY AM I HERE?" a prisoner-speaker asked his fellow-inmates. "I'm not on juice or junk (liquor or narcotics) so why am I here? I've been seventeen years in prison. There's no liquor problem or dope habit here because there isn't any stuff. Why am I here at a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous? Because I am a compulsive personality with a variety of compulsions--for alcohol, drugs, gambling, running away. . .they're all part of the pattern. I'm full of envy, fear and resentments. I have no control over these things.
