What Al-anon Means to Me

WE HAVE ALL BEEN TO AA MEETINGS and heard stories of lost hopes, utter despair and attempted suicide. I wonder how many non-alcoholics in Al-Anon have felt the same way? I certainly have. I don't want this to sound overly dramatic but, after doing the day's work as breadwinner--when I got home to find no food, yesterday's dishes in the sink, the children left, the bank account overdrawn and the wife insensible, there really didn't seem much to live for. Of course we can all take this sort of thing for awhile, but after a period of years, one indeed wonders--what's the use of even trying anymore?
