Shadows Have Faces
SOME 2300 YEARS AGO a Greek thinker wrote a parable,The Image Of The Cave. He compared men with prisoners chained in a cave, their backs to the light, mistaking shadows on the wall before them for reality. Since Plato's time, writers have allegorized prisoners as "men in the shadows." This is false imagery in the case of alcoholics we were chained, our back to the light, mistaking shadows for reality long before our inability to grasp reality brought us to prison.
