Silent Partners

The story of one of the pioneer "wives' groups"--now part of the Al-Anon Family Group Set-up--is here chronicled by one of its founders.

SOMEONE asked me to go back to my first AA contact and the lasting impression it made on me. I can truthfully say it was the most inspiring experience of my life. It happened in St. Louis where my husband was hospitalized for the last of many times. I called the founder of the St. Louis AA group and arrangements were made for a hospital room. From the first day, members of the group went to see him. They were all strangers who were to become good friends. He was there two weeks and I don't like to remember that Christmas.
