Few Die Well
"FEW DIE WELL" is a controversial statement if we apply it to mankind as a whole. If we apply it, however, to the alcoholic it is not so controversial. It is estimated there are 5 million alcoholics in a population of 130 million of "drinking age" in the United States--about four per cent. The alcoholic is a person who is powerless over alcohol, whose life has become unmanageable. We 200,000 alcoholics in AA are a part of a small minority who have learned to live without alcohol and who are making progress toward a manageable life. I am one of those fortunate alcoholics in AA, and I am most grateful.
