The science of semantics has made great strides in recent decades because of the growing awareness on the part of intelligent people that it is necessary to have a common area of meaning when we communicate with one another. Such words as faith, religion, friendship may be understood differently by different people, but there must be a common core of agreement in order for the words to convey anything which will impel living action.
