Around the World

THREE POWERFUL WORDS <lbNews, comments and letters from and about AA's worldwide outposts and centers--gleaned from letters to the Grapevine and the General Service Office, and from the "AA Exchange Bulletin," published monthly by GSO.

I AM FORTY YEARS OLD TOMORROW and I can honestly say that these last four and a half AA years have been the greatest of my life. I am sure grateful to AA, its members, and God for this way of life. AA to me can be summed up in the words: communication--with people, loved ones, and God; comprehension, the power to understand and to know that we are not the only pebble on the beach but a very important pebble when we learn to give and serve; and last but not least, cooperation with those around us. In this way we can learn to swim with the tide of life instead of bucking the flood. When I think back on it, how easy it has been because one is willing to say and admit "I can't drink." Those three words were the key that opened the door to happiness for me.
