From the Grass Roots

I WOULD LIKE to express a word of appreciation for the, "Let's Be Friendly With Our Friends," article in the March issue of the Grapevine. I think that these articles, along with your "Helping Hands" and "Outside AA" articles, are real tangible proofs that AA has come of age. Those of us who are not alcoholic, but who still have a vital interest in the problems of the alcoholic, repeatedly are forced to bite our lips when we hear AA members discourage people who can potentially help alcoholics by saying, "You can't really help unless you are one of us." I feel sure that the time will come when the maturity exhibited in your publication filters down to local groups, and this will make for a unity of the many forces that are dedicated to helping alcoholics.
