Learning to Live at 40

LAST SEPTEMBER THIRD was my thirty-ninth birthday. I had decided a few days previously that I would go to an AA meeting on that day to find out what it was all about. Most of you reading this are familiar with the desperate situation that would bring about such a decision. So--naturally, the possibility that I might be about to quit drinking called for a celebration. . .three-day one which I called the Grand Finale.
