INDUSTRY HAS DONE A "DOUBLE-TAKE" on alcoholism. No longer is the alcoholic or problem drinker dismissed without question. Today a serious attempt to rehabilitate him is made by many firms . . . Allis-Chalmers has cut its firing rate for alcoholics from 95 per cent to 8 per cent since it started its rehabilitation program in 1946. In the same time, it cut its absenteeism rate among those treated from 8 per cent to 3 per cent, lower than the plant average . . .
