Bachelors Suffer Less. . .

ALTHOUGH I know perfectly well, on the basis of my own experience, that every active alcoholic suffers a great deal--whatever his marital status--I believe that the suffering of a husband and father who surrenders himself to the curse of alcohol is considerably greater. I reached this conclusion after comparing the long period of time during which I was a bachelor drinker with the two years I spent completely enveloped in the depths of alcoholism after marrying and becoming a father.
