The Big Magic

THERE is no doubt in my mind that a person who enters prison for the first time is temporarily beyond constructive help. I know I was and I have talked to many others who felt the same way. It just seems the world has come to an end . . . and it has! Friends who can understand human weaknesses that caused us to err are few and far between. The ensuing months and years relieve even these friends of this understanding. Correspondence dwindles, friends lose interest and we are on our own. What goes through one's mind when this happens?
