From the Grass Roots

Come to the Fair

NOTHING could touch me more than the things and the people I have seen here. I am trying to put in focus what all of us mean to each other in terms of interdependence. I don't think any experience can be given to a man to develop a sense of humility like going to a World's Fair. It shows each of us how terribly unimportant we are individually; yet it does show us what we can do when we work together. I certainly had this conviction drummed into my soul from the generosity of everybody in AA, but I must say that when I see some of the incredible things that man can fashion, as exemplified by all of the exhibits at the Fair, I realize that I am unimportant--that each of us is unimportant and that we need each other passionately.
