THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE CHIEF MEDICAL EXAMINER of Middlesex County, New Jersey, contains a resume of "alcohol factor cases" for the period 1933-1957. Of 3,291 cases autopsied 31% (1,020 cases) showed alcohol as a factor. Of these 1,020 cases, 42% were intoxicated (above 0.15 percent alcohol in brain or blood) and 58% had been drinking (between 0.00 and 0.15 percent alcohol in brain or blood).
