AA Around the World

Real Hippos in the Garden - News, comments and letters from and about AA's worldwide outposts and centers--gleaned from letters to the Grapevine and the General Service Office, and from the "AA Exchange Bulletin," published by the General Service Office.

I MUST tell you of these Zululand Intergroup affairs. Every month we have an Intergroup meeting at one of the five centers, apart from the weekly group meetings held by each group at home. This was the outcome of an idea of Cyril's with the idea of getting closer fellowship among the widely spread AAs in Zululand. To attend some of these functions people travel anything from thirty-six to eighty miles. I must try and find you a Zululand road map to give you an idea where these centers lie. My brother Garry from Kwambonambi has done some terrific mileage fetching people and taking them home. He has a "baby" away up at Mkusi, in elephant country named Brian. He always reminds Garry to shut the gate when coming "to keep the hippos out of the garden."
