From the Grass Roots

The Biggest Boon

IN nineteen months of AA, I've heard around the table about the importance of meetings. How true! Several weeks ago I was working under conditions that prevented me from attending any meetings--morning, evening, or even one of the six midnight meetings that are available in Detroit. I took literature with me on the bus to and from work. I read at work at every spare moment. Yet this was not enough. At the end of two weeks I was on thin ice. I needed meetings, I wanted meetings. Literature couldn't take the place of my "AA family." So now more than ever I stress the importance of personal contact with AA. In Detroit, the biggest boon to me are those six midnight meetings each week. Now there can't be any excuse for me not to get to a meeting. Thank God for AA, and, for me, thank AA for God.
