MEMO TO AA

You gave me love when I was sure there was none. You planted seeds in what I thought was surely barren ground. Then you fertilized this with your tolerance. You overlooked my mistakes, which would have driven a saint mad. Your hope gave me hope. Your humility made me think, and when I thought, I knew shame. My arrogance and cockiness and false pride suddenly became an intolerable burden, and if my sobriety was to remain, then something had to go.
