From the Grass Roots

A ROUGH TRAIL

OUR GSO correspondence scout picked up this story from Tom Z., General Service Conference Delegate from South Dakota. I've mentioned several times [he writes] how tough a road the Indians have to travel and how they have a very complicated and difficult problem because of poverty, feeling out of place. . .coupled with an alcoholic problem. Now I have gotten hold of a letter written to the Cheyenne Agency by a teacher in a real small Reservation settlement called Iron Lightning--it's a wonderful portrayal of how AA has helped not only the drunks but the entire community. Incidentally, one hard-working Indian AA is presently trying to get AA introduced into the Pine Ridge Reservation at the other end of the state.
