THE North American Association of Alcoholism Programs, formerly the National States' Conference on Alcoholism, was founded in 1949 as the result of a suggestion by Dr. E. M. Jellinek, one of the foremost scientific authorities in the alcoholism field. Dr. Jellinek felt that there was a need for an association of administrators of government-supported alcoholism rehabilitation programs which would concern itself primarily in providing guidance and assistance with the administrative problems confronting state alcoholism programs.
