The Contribution of Failure

JOHN DONNE said that any man's death concerned him because he was involved in Mankind. He saw himself in relation to his fellow man and accepted the concept that being "a piece of the continent, a part of the maine" carried responsibilities as well as benefits which might derive from his inescapable connection with his fellow travellers on this planet. Similarly alcoholics are involved in alcoholism and must be concerned with the welfare of their fellow sufferers.
