Our Strength Lies in Giving

THE most memorable day of our lives was November 17, 1947--the day my husband phoned me at my place of work and said, "I won't be home at the time I promised. I am at a club." My heart stood still while I asked, "What club?" When the answer came back, "the AA Club" the thank God that I thought I had only whispered, echoed very loudly over the wire. My prayer had been answered so suddenly that it almost shocked me. Three days before this call, our elder son had begged me to leave his father, so that he, his young brother and I could make a new home together.
