Words Ideas & Action
ONE of the most frequently heard expressions at a meeting closed or open--is "I admitted. . .but I guess I never accepted" the fact of alcoholism. Even our First Step uses the modest "admitted." And then off we go into a blue yonder (not wild any more because we are sober this day) of semantical confusion. Usually what Tom means by "admitting" is almost exactly what Dick and Harry mean by "accepting" and vice versa. Frankly, I'm very rarely sure what either of them mean in the first place. Of course, I know exactly what I mean (or do I?)
