A Call to Remember
TWELVE years ago, I had a close call that I want to remember--as a lesson. At that time I had been successful with the AA program for a supremely happy and certainly a lucrative period of three years; but with the bursting energy of a dry alky, I'd thrown myself into the 1948 gubernatorial campaign with almost complete abandon and had driven myself to the edge of exhaustion.
