"WHAT to Do in Case of a Christmas" (page 3) recalls a closed meeting we led just a year ago on the subject of The Dangerous Season of Tom & Jerry, or, The Eggnog Will Get You if You Don't Watch Out. As we finished our opening remarks, an old timer arose and stated that nobody who was working AA's twenty-four-hours-at-a-time plan of recovery had any reason to fear holiday temptations. We countered that a lot of newcomers aren't able to latch onto the twenty-four hour plan right off the bat (no pun intended) and that our topic was therefore appropriate. Whereupon a newcomer stood up, said he had not had any fear of slipping during the Christmas Season, but that after listening to us his serenity was shattered. Sometimes maybe we should stay home.
