Skid Row Alcoholic Population Low

THE NATIONAL COUNCIL on Alcoholism Newsletter reports that a study by the National Opinion Research Center of the University of Chicago, with additional findings from studies made by the Salvation Army and the Volunteers of America, indicates that the "Skid Row Alcoholic" represents only three percent of total alcoholic population. Further, there is indication that, at most, only thirty percent of the skid row population should be considered alcoholics; the remaining seventy percent are, in effect, desocialized personalities.
