THE STORY OF OUR LIVES

THE preacher told a story about the alcoholic who had been promising his good church-going wife for years that one day he was going to quit drinking. She had about got to the point where she had given up hope that he would ever quit when the old boy, after a big weekend battle, went to the good wife and told the same old story. Somehow he appeared sincere this time, so she listened. He asked the sweet little thing to pray for him. They knelt down by the bed: "Lord help my poor drunken husband. . . ." The husband broke in and said:
