The Private Life of Curly Baines

CURLY BAINES--called Curly because he was bald--sat on his private stool at the Napoli Bar engaged in his usual daily private meditation. Curly's private stool was at the end of the bar around the corner from the main line of the bar, so placed and so homesteaded by Curly over a period of many years because it gave him a view of the entire length of the bar, and didn't force him to look into the mirror which faced the main body of the bar, and kept his back turned to the plate glass window which led to the reality of the street.
