The First of Hollywood's stars to join AA tells his story

TO THE PUBLIC at large, star is apt to be a misleading and misunderstood word. To us in show business it is an important and meaningful word. In the fan magazines a star is a glamorous creature who seems to spend his time cavorting in a private swimming pool, night-clubbing with the most beautiful men and women ever photographed, and generally spending little time on anything but pleasure. For most non-alcoholic stars this phase of Hollywood life--if they choose it--can be taken in stride; for the alcoholic it often spells disaster.
