THE observations which follow are those of a recent AA member--myself--whose background is scientific. I came into AA a year and a half ago and "slipped" once after a year's "sobriety." I had ceased going to meetings because they were distant from where I happened to be, and one night I tried barbiturates to get some sleep. Because of my short membership and my once-spotted record, some of what is said below may sound--and be--impertinent.
