Running Scared

I'M "running scared" and I am not afraid to mention it. I don't mean that I am in constant fear that I might drink within the next hour or the next day. I'm running scared like a politician when he is running for office and he knows that his opponent is very strong. I'm running scared like a salesman who is after an order and he knows that his competitor also has a good chance to get the deal. I'm running scared like the track athlete who doesn't want to lose the race; therefore he puts out the extra effort to win. The politician makes the extra appearances, the salesman pulls out all of the stops and leaves nothing to chance and the runner excels in every effort to win.
