The Search

MAN, through the ages, has been engaged in an endless search for a way of living at peace with himself in spite of the numerous trials and tribulations that come his way during the too-short span of his lifetime. We, as recovered alcoholics, can now recognize that our former way of life was even more than that. Ours was a hopeless quest for perfection in all things--hopeless because perfection in anything is unattainable in this life. Doomed to failure because we knew not what we sought, we continued blindly on our way, meeting frustration at every turn and despair at every crossroad, until we became stumbling, twitching wrecks of semi-humanity.
