A Special Compensation

Most women, I believe, bring with them into AA a sense of guilt and inadequacy that is peculiar to their sex. It is based on the deep inner knowledge that drunkenness tarnishes a woman's most precious quality, her femininity, that it is invariably and indisputably unbecoming. The woman who starts using alcohol to feel clever or attractive in social situations finds it, in the end, a razor-edged boomerang.
