AA--First a Ripple. . .Now a Wave in Ireland
THE first Irish group of Alcoholics Anonymous was formed in Dublin in November 1946, mainly through the efforts of Conor F. on holiday from Philadelphia. I joined it a few months later, my then-generous nature allowing me to permit others more obviously in need of help to have the leading places in the queue. I have been of the group ever since, but meantime have learned to jump the queue, irrespective of manners, when help is being handed out. After all, charity begins at home.
