Remember--He's Getting Well

WHEN I was new in AA I felt deeply and I would express myself too warmly sometimes. There was exaggeration in my method of expression. Listeners are often prejudiced against a Testifier by the extravagant, enthusiastic and fanatical language employed. Fastidious ears are often burned. To the man who says off-colon things I take no offense but rather I try to understand the situation and his condition--to look at him in all earnestness and see if I can't take him by the hand and say, "My brother alcoholic, you can't offend me. I know that what you are saying would get you thrown out of a cheap saloon, but God help you to do good, as you are doing." Remember, he's getting well.
