Smug?

I've been wondering, lately, whether we so called old-timers aren't getting a bit smug about our wonderful AA. More and more we read about the doctors, clergymen, law enforcement officials, and so on, who are telling the world (and us) that there's just nothing that can do the job AA is doing. And I'm wondering whether some of us (including myself) aren't beginning to bask in the glowing warmth of self-esteem that can so easily develop when the climate is right.
