RECENTLY, a young man with six years in AA walked over to his liquor closet, poured himself a drink and, with a barely perceptible shrug of his shoulders, started off on a monumental slip. By odd and unrelated coincidence, his neighbor, a lady with ten years of happy sobriety, concluded that state over the New Year's holiday.
