I still live from day to day in the old twenty-four-hour way, and it is wonderful. Many of the people in the Navy are quite surprised that I am not drinking, and I think they have adopted a wait-and-see attitude. One nice thing, though, is that none of my old chums has insisted that I have a drink. They are probably too shocked to speak.
