From the Editor

In addition to the Twelve Step program on which the AA movement is based, there are practical "gimmicks" which we are taught when we first come in and which make the path toward sobriety easier. One of these is carrying hard candy in pocket or purse; when the "four o'clock let-down" hits us we can get a little boost of energy from sugar rather than from a drink. Another is to get a good daily ration of vitamins, especially of the B Complex group. Yet another is to keep plenty of liquid in our systems by means of coffee or soft drinks. Another supplementary aid to happy sobriety which has been tried by a number of A As and found useful is a method of reversing crippling untruths which we have told ourselves during the years of our battle with reality. This technique, called "Humanetics," was discovered by one of our non-alcoholic friends, Mr. Richard W. Wetherill of Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. This brief description of it, provided by him at our request, may prove helpful to many readers.
