Meditation in an English Garden
The family serene, the garden a tapestry of sun and shade. . .but the peace depends on Dad's sobriety
IT is a warm Saturday afternoon and I am sitting outside the French windows leading into my garden. My elder son, aged eighteen, is cleaning his motorcycle on the lawn. It will not do the grass much good, but I do not say anything. This is not because I am a good man who does not nag his family, but because I have been nagging my son to clean his machine for some time and I resolve that today I will not find fault with others.
