Puzzle: Find the Church

Not long ago I was in a Palo Alto hotel and pretty lonely. Knowing the signs, I decided I needed a meeting. I took up the phone and called the nearest AA and was told that the only meeting in the area was at 8 P.M., Foothill Church, 10 North White Road, East San Jose, California. I took a bus to San Jose arriving about 7:30 P.M., made inquiries and found that the only way I could make the meeting would be to take a taxi. After what seemed an eternity of keeping my eye on the meter and my watch we finally arrived. The driver let me down in front of an empty lot saying, "This is the address you gave me."
