Spreading the word in India

I celebrated my third AA birthday on October 24, 1960, without a slip, so far. I have been a loner all this time and do not know what an AA meeting is like! The only means I have of keeping to the AA program is the reading and constant study of AA literature for a loner, always of course being watchful and ready to carry out the Twelfth Step. In these three years of sobriety, The AA Grapevine has been my constant and ever-ready companion, and to this magazine I owe a great deal: first of all, my sobriety and secondly, the acquisition of knowledge and understanding of AA. Without the Grapevine, those of us in distant lands who are struggling along to reach other alcoholics, would be completely out of touch with the fellowship.
